IOWA NEWS: Flags at half-staff in honor, remembrance of U.S. Rep. John David Dingell Jr.

DES MOINES - Gov. Kim Reynolds ordered all state flags in Iowa to be lowered to half-staff Friday until sunrise today in honor and remembrance of U.S. Rep. John David Dingell Jr., the longest-serving member of Congress in the nation's history.
The governor's order was issued in conjunction with President Donald Trump's proclamation to lower all United States flags to half-staff for the same length of time.
Flags were at half-staff on the State Capitol Building and on flag displays in the Capitol Complex in Des Moines. Flags also were be half-staff on all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state, and individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions were encouraged to fly the flags at half-staff for the same length of time.
Dingell died Thursday in Dearborn, Michigan.
