Iowa sees biggest one-day jump of COVID-19 cases

Thursday saw Iowa's largest number of new COVID-19 cases in one day.
At her Thursday news conference, Gov. Kim Reynolds said there were 125 new cases around the state, bringing Iowa's total number of COVID-19 cases up to 1,270.
There were also two new deaths in the state, an elder adult (81+ years_ and an older adult (61-80 years) both from Linn County.
Reynolds said there were no new counties affected as of Thursday, keeping the total number of counties with positive COVID-19 cases at 79 of Iowa's 99 counties.
Locally, Washington County confirmed three new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the county total up to 65. Washington County has the sixth-highest number of cases in Iowa as of Thursday.
Henry and Jefferson Counties saw no new cases on Thursday, keeping the county totals at 15 and three respectively.
As of Thursday, there have been 882 negative cases bringing the total up to 13,703 negative cases statewide. There have also been 122 individuals hospitalized in the last 24 hours as well and 476 people are recovering.
The Iowa Department of Public Health continues to recommend washing hands often, covering coughs and sneezes, avoid close contact with people who are sick, stay home if you're sick and clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily.
