Iowa sees close to 200 new cases of COVID-19, 10 additional deaths over the weekend

Over the weekend, the state of Iowa saw 199 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and now has a total of 1,587 positive cases, the Iowa Department of Public Health reports.
In addition to new cases, the state also confirmed ten new coronavirus-related fatalities over the weekend - three on Saturday and seven on Sunday, bringing the state's total of deaths up to 41.
The fatalities reported over the weekend included individuals from Crawford, Johnson, Madison, Linn and Washington County. Linn County, which leads the state in confirmed cases with 243 cases, reported six deaths on Sunday. All other counties who reported fatalities had only one.
Washington County's additional fatality was an elderly adult (81+), bringing the county's total death count to four. The county also saw 11 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, nine on Saturday and two on Sunday, for a total of 81 cases.
Two new cases in Henry County and one additional case in Jefferson County were also identified on Saturday. Henry County now has 19 confirmed cases and Jefferson County currently has 4.
The IDPH notes that as of Sunday, 674 Iowans have recovered from COVID-19 and the state had an addition 383 negatives tests for a total of 16,005 negative tests, which include those tested by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs.
The health department continues to urge residents of the state to engage in preventive measures including frequent hand-washing, avoiding close contact with those who may be and are sick as well as making sure to stay home if exhibiting symptoms.
