Iowa surpasses 14,000 COVID-19 cases over the weekend

Iowa saw 323 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the state total to 14,328. Additionally, Sunday also had five new deaths, bringing the total number of Iowans dying due to COVID-19 to 351 according to Iowa Department of Public Health data.
Locally, Washington County had two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the county total to 172. Henry County had two new cases bringing its total to 47. Jefferson County had no new cases on Sunday, keeping its total at 12.
As of Sunday, 100,241 Iowans have been tested for the virus. That total number is equal to 1 out of every 31 Iowans being tested.
Across the state 7,154 Iowans have been confirmed to be recovered from the virus according to IDPH data.
On Saturday, Washington County saw a bigger jump in cases of COVID-19 than it has in a few weeks. The county reported seven new cases on Saturday.
As of Friday, some businesses have been able to reopen with loosened restrictions after Gov. Kim Reynolds issued an updated proclamation allowing all counties to begin to reopen at 50% capacity.
Since Friday restaurants, fitness centers and retail establishments across the state have been allowed to open at 50% capacity according to Reynolds' proclamation.
Salons, barbershops, massage and tattoo establishments have been able to open while following social-distancing guidelines. It also permits libraries, race tracks, tanning facilities. campgrounds, drive-in theaters and social and fraternal clubs to reopen. Salons and barbershops may operate on an appointment basis only.
The proclamation states that bars, theaters, casinos, amusements, museums, swimming pools, skating rinks and skate parks and playgrounds are to remain closed.
The proclamation also continues closures and public health measures, which limit social gatherings of more than 10 people until at least May 27.
