MT. PLEASANT - Iowa Wesleyan University will hold an open house for its recently renovated Center for International Education on Wednesday.
The university announced the renovations and transformation of a university-owned building located on North Broadway and West Franklin in March. The university was recently recognized in the 2021 U.S. News and World Report for its number of international students. More than 30 countries are represented in the school's student body.
The center will be a resource for the campus as well as the broader community on 'best practices within international education” a release from the university states. The center also will coordinate programs and provide 'opportunities for learning and growth across cultures.”
'We are pleased to have a new home for our Center for International Education to serve our students better,” DeWayne Frazier, university provost, said.
'The cultural differences can be overwhelming for our international students, so this house provides them many valuable resources as well as signals the university's commitment to supporting their education.”
Tours will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be kicked off with a ribbon cutting by the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance. Members of the public will be able to attend tours in groups of 10 or less. Masks will be required.
