On Sunday, Nov. 7, Iowa Wesleyan University students and staff members cleaned up two miles of Highway 34 through the Adopt-a-Highway program.
The students participating were A.J. Albert of Winfield, Vladislava Plotnikova and Kseniia Biriukova both of Mt. Pleasant, and Creighten Chambers of Colorado Springs,Colorado.
Adopt-A-Highway(AAH) is an innovative program developed by the Iowa Department of Transportation to increase public awareness of environmental needs along Iowa highways by making sections of roadsides available for "adoption."
The cleanup is organized once in the fall and once in the spring by the Americorp Service Learning and Civic Engagement Partnership Coordinator.
This fall, students and staff picked up six garbage bags full of trash plus a tire, a post, and various car parts.
