James Harlan Chapter of DAR meets
James Harlan Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution met Saturday morning, Nov. 17, at Jerry?s Restaurant in Mt. Pleasant.
The special guest this month was DiAnne Lerud-Chubb, Chairman of the DAR Schools Committee.
DiAnne lives in Burlington and served as Iowa State Regent from 2006-2008. There are two DAR Schools and four DAR Approved Schools, supported through DAR donations.

The special guest this month was DiAnne Lerud-Chubb, Chairman of the DAR Schools Committee.

This year?s theme is ?Soar with Education,? symbolized as three balloons, signifying friendship, service and commitment to the children at the DAR Schools.
After lunch, Regent Sylvia Blaesing led the short business meeting, attended by 15 members: Cathy Helman, Mary Savage, Vice Regent Maria Whetsler, Registrar Carol Klopfenstein, Chaplain Jo Ann Stout, Helen See, Treasurer Pam Schinstock, Wilma Lewis Witham, Pat White, Secretary Pat Brown, Sylvia Ridinger, Kayleigh Septer, Jane Neil and Gayle Olson.
Hostesses were Septer and Klopfenstein.
The next meeting will be 10 a.m., Dec.17, at the Fellowship Cup in Mt. Pleasant.
All members of DAR descend from a patriot who fought in the American Revolution. The objectives of DAR are historical preservation and the promotion of education and patriotic endeavors.
