James Harlan Chapter of DAR meets in Wapello
James Harlan Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution met Saturday morning, June 23, in Wapello. Sixteen members and guests gathered at the Louisa County Heritage Center, which once housed a car dealership.
Wapello resident, Valeen Ziegenhorn, shared the history of the Louisa County Heritage Center and led the group on a room by room tour of their extensive and well displayed collections.

James Harlan Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution met Saturday morning, June 23, in Wapello. Sixteen members and guests gathered at the Louisa County Heritage Center, which once housed a car dealership.
Wapello resident, Valeen Ziegenhorn, shared the history of the Louisa County Heritage Center and led the group on a room by room tour of their extensive and well displayed collections.
A country church and a country school have been moved to the grounds and are also available for touring.

After a short business meeting, led by Vice-Regent Maria Whetsler, the group lunched at Johnnie B?s on the river. Hostesses Martha Allen and Pat White organized the activities for the day.
Joining the group as special guests were chapter member Vernene Rodgers Lenz and her husband Gary, visiting from Maryland.
Other members attending: Jo Ann Stout, Mary Savage, Wilma Lewis Witham, Judy Rawson, Pat Brown, Pam Schinstock, Carol Messer, Helen See, Janet Mills, Jane Neil and Sylvia Ridinger.
All members of DAR descend from a patriot who fought in the American Revolution. The objectives of DAR are historical preservation and the promotion of education and patriotic endeavors.
