Friends may call after noon on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Schmitz Funeral Home, in Donnellson, where the family will meet with friends from 4 to 7 p.m., that evening. James William ?Bill? Lamborn, 75, of Donnellson, died on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Ft. Madison Community Hospital.
Friends may call after noon on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Schmitz Funeral Home, in Donnellson, where the family will meet with friends from 4 to 7 p.m., that evening. There will be a Christian Wake Service on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, in Farmington, with Rev. Dennis Hoffman as Celebrant. Burial will be in the Greenglade Cemetery, in Farmington, with full military rites by the Farmington American Legion Post #231.
Memorials may be made to the Donnellson Fire and Rescue, Farmington Fire Department and the Farmington EMT?s. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.schmitzfuneralhomes.com. The Schmitz Funeral Home, of Donnellson, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Lamborn was born on Aug. 19, 1941, in Farmington, the son of Samuel and Esther Troutman Lamborn. On Sept. 17, 1965, at Keokuk, he married Alice M. Finton. She preceded him in death. On Aug. 11, 2001, he married Janey Therme Fuchs.
He graduated from Farmington High School in 1959 and the Gale Institute, in Minneapolis, Minn. He served in the United States Army.
In his early years, he worked with his father in construction. He later owned and operated Home Town Lumber, in Donnellson, and the Houghton Ready Mix Concrete. He worked for Ideal Ready Mix until his retirement. He continued working part-time as an estimator for Jones Contracting up until the time of his death.
He enjoyed traveling, visiting his sister and brother-in-law in Florida each winter, driving his step-granddaughter to New York City, going to Iowa Hawkeye Football Games, and hosting picnics for family and friends each summer at the farm.
He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, in Farmington.
Lamborn is survived by his wife, Janey, of Donnellson; three sons, Chad (Vickie) Lamborn, of Donnellson, Ty Lamborn, of Keosauqua, and Eric Lamborn ,of Donnellson; his step-daughter, Tracy (Gary) Frahm, of Miles; his step-son, Brian (Jamel) Fuchs, of Urbandale; four grandchildren; five step- grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and three sisters, Nancy (Rich) Lowe, of Independence, Mo., Chris (Kent) Anderson, of Mt. Pleasant, and Jan (Todd) Loges, of Farmington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice; and one sister, Linda Jacobsmeier.
