James R. Hoffman, 86, of Franklin, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson with Rev. Dennis Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter?s Cemetery near Franklin with full military rites by the Holtz-Geers American Legion Post #668 of West Point. Friends may call after 1p.m. Wednesday at the ...

James R. Hoffman, 86, of Franklin, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson with Rev. Dennis Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter?s Cemetery near Franklin with full military rites by the Holtz-Geers American Legion Post #668 of West Point. Friends may call after 1p.m. Wednesday at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson where the family will meet with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. Memorials may be made to St. Peter?s Cemetery. Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home of Donnellson is assisting the family with arrangements.
Hoffman was born March 27, 1928, at Park Falls, Wisc., the son of Peter and Anna Woodie Hoffman. On Oct. 30, 1976, at St. Mary?s Church in West Point he married Dorothy Johnson Wagner. He was of the catholic faith and a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War.
Hoffman is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Franklin; four step-children, Nola Gram, of Ft. Madison; Edward Wagner, of Franklin; Paul Wagner, of Burlington; and Susie Whitaker, of Argyle; six step-grandchildren; fifteen step great-grandchildren; and one step great great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and five sisters.
