Adam Janssen remembers when he was a teenager working on a farm outside of his hometown of Ames, he had to visit Arnold Motor Supply many times to get needed supplies for the projects he was working on. Two weeks ago he became the manager of the Arnold Motor Supply in Washington.
He attended Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa before moving back to Ames where he worked as a mechanic for a few years. He had worked at Arnold previously in high school. In 2005, he started with the company again. He worked as a counterman and salesman for many years before being promoted to manager and assigned to the Washington store.
Janssen said he is excited to be coming in as the store is preparing to have a major interior and exterior refurbishing. He has a wife, Shannon, and 3-year-old daughter Abby.
Since you have been in Washington, what do you think?
I think it is a very nice town. There is a lot to offer here. We are looking forward to getting away from the bigger city and to a smaller town.
So far, what is your favorite thing about Washington?
I haven?t been here too long, but we like the area. There is a nice hospital in the area, they have a nice park, the school system ... just looking forward to getting involved in that stuff.
How did you become interested in cars?
I?ve always tinkered around. I started working for a farmer in Ames and we always used to go into Arnold Motor Supply in Ames. I worked for Arnold when I was in high school in 2001 and I always enjoyed working for them. Any chance I had to go back to work for them, I took it.
Ever build any cars?
I?ve never built a street car, but I?ve helped my buddies with their stock cars and modified hobby stocks back home and spending time at the local race track in Marshalltown.
What are some of your hobbies?
Racing. I also enjoy doing yard work and home remodeling and spending time with family.
What does the future look like?
I?d like to see myself advancing further in our company. Arnold?s is a great company to work for. It has been around since 1927 and we are up to 53 stores and three warehouses.
