JCHC offers many ways to get COVID vaccine
May. 19, 2021 6:16 am
Jefferson County Health Center is expanding Moderna COVID-19 vaccine availability and now offers multiple ways for the community to schedule and receive a COVID-19 immunization.
“Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for people to get vaccinated. Now, you can schedule an appointment, get the vaccine during an already scheduled visit, or even just go to JCHC Clinics and ask for the vaccine,” said Curtis Smith, the health center’s chief operating officer.
JCHC previously hosted mass vaccination clinics. As vaccination levels increased in Jefferson County and across Iowa, fewer people signed up for each clinic. This new approach will offer more options to the community for vaccination and, the health center hopes, continue to increase the number of vaccinated individuals within the county.
“At this stage in the pandemic, the focus is to get shots out in whatever way possible. The more people we can vaccinate, the fewer people the virus can easily infect, and the faster we can move toward a return to normalcy,” said Dr. Michael Greiner, a primary care provider at JCHC Clinics.
The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is approved for adults 18 and older. Individuals can now receive their vaccination through JCHC in one of three convenient ways. Those interested do not have to be a JCHC patient to receive the vaccination.
COVID-19 hotline
Call 641-469-4180 to schedule an appointment. Times are available from Monday through Friday, and vaccines are administered at JCHC Clinics.
Online scheduling
Existing patients with access to MyChart are able to directly schedule an extended hours appointment through the app. These appointments are available Monday through Friday, from 5—6:30 p.m. Vaccines are administered at JCHC Walk-in Clinic.
Walk-ins
Simply walk in and request a vaccination. Walk-ins are available at JCHC Clinics from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday. If you are already visiting JCHC for a different appointment, the health center encourages you to stop by JCHC Clinics as a walk-in for a COVID-19 vaccination as well.
Second dose vaccination appointments will be scheduled during the first dose administration.
For patients who have already received their first dose and have a second dose appointment scheduled, the health center is asking those patients to keep the existing second dose appointment. Second dose booster clinics will continue to be held through June.
For questions, contact the JCHC COVID-19 hotline at 641-469-4180.
Jefferson County Health Center will offer the Moderna vaccine at a variety of locations and times.
