Jefferson County Health Center (JCHC) will once again host their Annual Heart Health & Home Event, this year with a new theme: Knowing Diabetes by Heart. This free educational event will take place on Thursday, March 20 from 5-7 p.m. in Conference Room C at JCHC.
The evening will feature a live cooking demonstration led by Colette Banda, Registered Dietitian, where she will showcase a heart-healthy recipe and offer practical tips for making nutritious meals at home. Participants will learn eight key ways to care for their heart while managing Type 2 diabetes and how small changes can make a big difference in overall health.
Participants will have the opportunity to taste complimentary samples to discover how delicious heart-healthy eating can be.
“We’re excited to bring this valuable information to our community and help participants better understand how they can manage their heart health and diabetes together,” said Banda. “This event will provide practical, sustainable steps for improving health in the kitchen and beyond.”
A special thanks to the JCHC Auxiliary for sponsoring this event and making it possible, and to Fairfield Hy-Vee for their generous donation of ingredients.
Spots are limited. To reserve a spot, contact Christine Engwall at 641-469-4289 or visit jeffersoncountyhealthcenter.org/heart-healthy-event-signup.
