FAIRFIELD – The Jefferson County Compensation Board met Tuesday to discuss the salaries of the county's elected officials.
The seven-member board recommended that the county's elected officials receive a 3.5 percent raise in the next fiscal year. Last year, the board recommended a 3 percent raise.
The compensation board makes a recommendation every year to the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors on whether to give a raise to the officials, and by how much. The supervisors can approve the raise or a number lower than the one suggested, but not higher.
The elected officials to whom this raise applies are the county sheriff, recorder, treasurer, auditor and county attorney.
