Jefferson County Farm Bureau will host a pair of local candidate forums next week.
Both forums will be at 7 p.m. at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center on different days.
On Tuesday, Sept. 22, the forum will feature candidates for Jefferson County sheriff. The second forum will be Thursday, Sept. 24, and feature candidates for Jefferson County Board of Supervisors. Both will focus on rural issues facing Jefferson County.
Due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19, the forums will not be open to the public, but will be livestreamed and recorded on both the Jefferson County Farm Bureau Facebook fage and arts center's Facebook page.
The livestream is free and open to the public. Both forums will not be a debate, but an opportunity for each candidate to give their position on rural issues.
Questions from the community are encouraged and will be accepted by email at jefferson.county@ifbf.org with approved questions read to the candidates by a moderator.
Questions considered one-sided or threatening will not be used.
For more information, contact the Jefferson County Farm Bureau at 641-472-2128.
This year, the candidates running for Jefferson County sheriff are Republican Bart Richmond and Democrat Tracy Vance. There are two seats up for grabs on the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors, and the three candidates vying to fill them are Democrat Susie Drish and Republicans Dee Sandquist and Nick Adam.
