Jefferson County RSVP members meet 4th grade pen pals

On Wednesday, May 22, seventeen Retired Senior Volunteer Program pen pals got together with their Pence Elementary 4th grade pen pal correspondents for a fun hour of first-ever meeting to find out what we all looked like!

They began corresponding on Oct. 3, continuing until our meetup when some pen pals brought final letters to exchange. A good time was had by all as we sat and talked or played a game together.

Brittany Metcalf, teacher, had pen pals pair up for photos and generously gave copies to all attending. She also had a group photo done -- a fine reminiscence for all to enjoy over the summer until we start the program again next school year with Aundera Tubb, also a 4th grade teacher, who agreed to have the pen pal program in her class.

RSVP pen pal Anne Whitney remarked, "My pen pal Wyatt asked me how old l was. When l told him 71, his eyes bugged out!"
