Jefferson County supervisor candidates to participate in forum Oct. 10
Sep. 29, 2022 10:31 am
Rural Jefferson County voters will have the opportunity to have their questions answered by the candidates for the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors during a Candidate Forum that will be sponsored by the Jefferson County Farm Bureau.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10 at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center. The emphasis of the forum will be on rural issues facing the county. All supervisor candidates are invited to attend. The event is free and open to the public.
The Jefferson County Board of Supervisors has one seat up for grabs this November, and it is currently held by Democrat Daryn Hamilton, who will be opposed by challenger Lee Dimmitt, a Republican. The winner of the race will serve four years on the board.
Hamilton was elected to the board in 2018, defeating incumbent Republican Dick Reed. Dimmitt was previously a county supervisor for 12 years before stepping down at the end of 2020, when Democrat Susie Drish replaced him on the board.
In 2020, due to uncertainty with COVID-19 social distancing recommendations and guidelines, Farm Bureau’s Candidate Forum was livestreamed and not open to the Public.
Attendance at the 2022 Candidate Forum will not be limited, and the event will not be livestreamed. Farm Bureau encourages all that are able to be in attendance.
This forum will not be a debate, but an opportunity for each candidate to give their position on rural issues. Questions from the community are encouraged and will be accepted by email at jefferson.county@ifbf.org with approved questions read to the candidates by a moderator.
Questions considered one sided or threatening will not be used.
The Jefferson County Farm Bureau understands that harvest is quickly approaching, but hopes farmers will be able to take the time to learn more about the candidates for Jefferson County Supervisor on Oct. 10.
