Coming to you loud and proud from Fairfield, Iowa, day 5. Well, it was a good day- nice and sunny. It was a little bit of a burn going on today with 2,328 feet of climb- lots of hills. 65.9 miles, so we started in Centerville, West Grove, Bloomfield, Troy, Lebanon, Douds, Libertyville and Fairfield. The roads were rough. I don't know what's up with the roads between Centerville and Fairfield, but it was a bumpy ride today.
No accidents, no bad things today, so that was a positive. Got into Fairfield about 3:30 p. m., started about 7 a.m., so we took our time, but made sure we drank lots today. It's getting warmer, but the next two days are going to be a breeze. We only have half the feet of climb the next two days so downhill slide and feeling good about that. Feeling like we've got this ready to be done and ready to say we did it.
It's been fun, talked to really neat people again today. Everyone is just so helpful. The Air Force is on the route the whole day and whenever somebody has a flat tire, they always stop and help them and that's really neat that they do that.
