Joan E. Boeding, 88, of St Paul, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at the Donnellson Health Center following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer?s disease.
Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at St. James the Less Catholic Church in St. Paul with Rev. Bruce DeRammelaere as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. James Church Cemetery in St. Paul. Friends may call and meet with the family from 2:30 to 7 ...

Joan E. Boeding, 88, of St Paul, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, at the Donnellson Health Center following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer?s disease.
Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at St. James the Less Catholic Church in St. Paul with Rev. Bruce DeRammelaere as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. James Church Cemetery in St. Paul. Friends may call and meet with the family from 2:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point where there will be a parish rosary recited at 3 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. James the Less Catholic Church, or the Alzheimer?s Disease Research Center.
Boeding was born July 10, 1926, in St. Paul, the daughter of Bernard and Rosa Umthun Steffensmeier. She grew up in St. Paul and worked at the Sheaffer Pen Company in Ft. Madison. She married Harold ?Harry? Boeding on Feb. 8, 1947, in St. Paul.
She worked side by side with Harry for 55 years as they owned and operated Harry?s Service Station in St. Paul. She worked as bookkeeper, running for parts and many other duties.
She was a member of St. James the Less Catholic Church in St. Paul. Boeding also had a passion for knowledge and the arts. She enjoyed listening to classical music, reading about the wonders of the world, growing flowers, dancing and playing cards. Boeding loved spending time with her family and was an excellent baker and cook.
Boeding is survived by her husband Harry, of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter, Sheryl Boeding, of Clear Lake; three sons, Randy (Pat) Boeding, of Friendswood, Texas; Reg (Ann) Boeding, of Mahwah, N.J.; and Rollie (Mary) Boeding, of Middleton, Wisc.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Annette Nares, of Davenport; and two brothers, Paul Steffensmeier, of Donnellson; and Lloyd Steffensmeier, of Lisbon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and six brothers.
