Joe Ledger and Dee Sandquist won the top two spots in a four-person race to represent the Republican Party in the November election for Jefferson County Board of Supervisors.
In the primary election held Tuesday, June 4, Ledger received the most votes with 552 (36%), with Sandquist in second place at 361 (23%). In third place was Julie Greeson with 321 votes (21%) and in fourth place was Tom Drish with 314 votes (20%).
Polls closed at 8 p.m., and final results were announced at the Jefferson County Courthouse shortly after 10 p.m. Ledger and members of his family awaited the results in the courthouse.
After learning he had received the most votes, Ledger told The Union, “I’m thrilled the county supported me. I want to say thank you to everyone who supported me, and now I need the same support in November.”
Sandquist remarked, “I’m grateful to all the people who voted in the primary, and look forward to the general election this fall.”
Susie Drish was unopposed in her race to represent the Democratic Party on the Board of Supervisors. She received 249 votes (94%). Jefferson County has 11,335 registered voters, and 1,141 (10%) of them cast a ballot in Tuesday’s primary elections. The party breakdown was 876 Republicans, 261 Democrats and four Libertarians.
Sandquist and Drish serve on the Board of Supervisors along with Republican Lee Dimmitt. In November, Sandquist, Drish and Ledger will compete for the two open seats up for election. Dimmitt’s seat will be up for election in 2026.
