Arrests
Johnson County Sheriff's office advised that they had located a subject wanted out of Washington County, Monday night at Melrose Avenue in Iowa City. A Washington County officer transported the subject from the Kalona cheese factory to the Washington County Jail. Isaiah Dominguez, 32, of West Liberty, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for second-degree criminal mischief, going armed with intent, first-degree harassment, domestic abuse assault display or use of weapon first offense, driving while license denied or revoked, and eluding. Bond was $25,000 cash only.
Traffic accident
A caller Monday afternoon at East Washington Street in Washington reported being in an accident. There were no injuries. Both vehicles were in the parking lot. Two officers responded. Vehicle operators were Michael Hartson, of Washington, and Dana Crawford, of Washington. Damage exceeded $1,500, and a state accident report will be filed. Hartson was cited for failure to yield making a left turn.
Disabled vehicles
An officer reported being out with a vehicle along the roadway on Highway 22 in Riverside, Monday evening. The vehicle was pulling an occupied horse trailer. The horse was picked up by someone, and the vehicle was going to be towed out of the area.
Fire calls
Johnson County requested Kalona Fire for a vehicle on fire, Monday morning at Highway 1 S.W. in Kalona. Kalona Fire responded. The fire was extinguished.
Animal complaint
A caller Monday morning at West Fifth Street in Washington reported a loose dog that came after her while she was walking her dog along the Kewash Trail. The caller described it as a smaller gray, black and white terrier type dog. The first time she saw it, it was closer to the road. An officer responded and checked the area and was unable to locate the dog or anyone at the residence.
A caller Monday morning at Sixth Street in Kalona reported that a subject was bitten by her own cat in the clinic. The caller had injuries to the left index finger. The cat was up-to-date on rabies vaccine, and was scheduled to be euthanized later on Monday for another medical reason. An officer spoke with the caller and the victim. The information was documented.
A caller reported three ponies in a trailer at the corner of East Main and Benton in Brighton, Monday night. The caller had seen them in there for at least two days and didn't see any water. A deputy responded. The ponies were inside a trailer, and there were bedding and water. The owner was advised that the ponies were to be in a pasture by noon on Tuesday and that someone would be back to check on them.
Assault
A caller Monday night at East Madison Street in Washington witnessed a male subject punch his 10-year-old son in the face. When she confronted him, he threatened her as well. Officers responded and spoke to the suspect and the child. All denied any assault occurred. Documentation only was made.
A caller early Tuesday morning at Lexington Boulevard in Washington requested officers for a combative inmate who was fighting with jailers. Three officers responded. There were no injuries. Documentation was made.
Civil standby
A caller Monday morning at Underwood Avenue in Ainsworth requested a civil standby. An officer responded. A lawn mower was retrieved.
Family offense nonviolent
A caller early Tuesday morning at West Jefferson Street in Washington reported that his mother's boyfriend showed up and was causing issues and was refusing to leave. Two officers responded. The male reporting party left for the night, and the mother and her boyfriend stayed at the location.
Intimidation/harassment
A caller Monday morning at West Columbus Street in Crawfordsville reported that the landlord was harassing him and his family members. An officer spoke to both parties, who were advised to act appropriately.
A caller Monday night at West Second Street in Washington reported harassment from a subject who made verbal threats toward him and his family. An officer spoke with the caller and advised documentation of the verbal altercation.
A caller early Tuesday morning at East Washington Street in Washington reported customers harassing him in the store. An officer responded and spoke to all parties involved. The subjects bought the items and left the store.
Motor vehicle theft
A caller Monday morning at E Avenue in Kalona reported that a vehicle was stolen about 9:09 p.m. the previous night. Keys were inside, and amount of fuel was unknown. An officer responded. A report was to be filed. The vehicle was entered into the system. Later on Monday, the vehicle was located in Johnson County.
A caller reported locating a stolen vehicle, Monday night at 520th Street S.W. in Kalona. The vehicle was impounded by Johnson County.
Sexual child abuse
A caller Monday afternoon at Lexington Boulevard in Washington reported a sexual abuse case. An officer was advised. The report is under investigation.
Vandalism
A caller Monday morning at West Main Street in Washington reported that his 2005 Honda Accord was vandalized sometime between Saturday and Monday morning. There was damage to the windshield. An officer responded. A report will be filed.
All other theft
A caller Monday morning at East Washington Street in Washington reported that the bank just notified her of a subject trying to cash a check that she did not write out to him. An officer responded. The subject was gone upon the officer's arrival. A report will be filed.
A caller Monday afternoon at North Seventh Avenue in Washington reported that a check was stolen from his vehicle sometime between 9:30 and 11 a.m. that day. An officer responded. A report will be filed. The caller was going to contact the company to have them cancel the check and issue a new one.
All other offenses
A caller Monday afternoon at East Adams Street in Washington reported that the neighbor had been seen multiple times going through her mail. An officer responded. This was a misunderstanding between neighbors. The subject noticed that the mailbox was open and just closed it.
A female subject was reported pacing in the roadway, Monday night at East Second Street in Washington. She was carrying a stick and screaming at people going by, that someone was in her garage. Two officers responded. The female subject was advised to stop screaming at vehicles driving by.
