Arrests
An officer reported being on a vehicle stop with a vehicle that was parked partially on the highway and partially in a driveway, early Friday morning at Highway 92 in Washington. An additional officer also responded. Cecilia Maria Yerington, 33, of Columbus Junction, was arrested on charges of operating while intoxicated third or subsequent offense, open container, driving while license under suspension sixth offense, and two counts of child endangerment. The vehicle was towed by Moore's BP Amoco to Moore's, to be released to a valid driver upon payment of the tow bill.
Traffic accident
A caller Thursday morning at Palm Avenue in Washington reported that she put her white Chevrolet Cavalier in the ditch. She had left, and her brother would be getting the vehicle removed either Thursday or Friday. An officer added the vehicle to the system and added orange tape to the antenna.
An officer reported being out with a car-vs.-animal accident, early Friday morning at Coppock Road in Washington. The driver had a ride and would get the vehicle removed later on Friday or on Saturday. Documentation was made. The vehicle operator was Omar Toriz Arreola.
Traffic stop serious
A deputy reported being out on a vehicle stop, Thursday afternoon at First Street in Kalona. Teresa Lynn Brooks, 39, of Kalona, was cited for driving under suspension, fifth offense.
Disabled vehicles
A caller Thursday afternoon at Highway 218 and East Columbus Street in Crawfordsville reported a subject broken-down in an older vehicle southbound on Highway 218. A wrecker with the vehicle passed the responding officer before the officer's arrival.
An officer reported being out with a truck and trailer on the side of the road, Thursday night at Highway 1 in Washington. The owner had moved the vehicle somewhere else for the night, and it was going to be towed the next day.
Fire calls
A caller early Friday morning at East 12th Street in Washington reported that her smoke alarm was going off sporadically within the past 30 minutes or so. They were wired, not battery-operated. The caller could not see or smell anything unusual.
Officers and Washington Fire responded and checked the residence.
Animal complaint
A caller Thursday night at South Iowa Avenue in Washington reported two loose black pitbulls with no collars roaming the neighborhood. They seemed very hot and not aggressive. An officer responded and checked the area and was unable to locate the dogs.
Sexual child abuse
A caller Thursday morning at East Washington Street in Washington reported sexual assault. An officer responded. A report was filed.

Suspicious activity
A caller Thursday morning reported that there was a red Kia Soul that had been in the area for the past several days. The possible license plate number provided was not a match for the vehicle. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the vehicle.
A caller Thursday afternoon at Riverside Road in Riverside reported suspicious activity. An officer responded and spoke with the subject who lived in the area.
A caller Thursday evening at South Avenue B in Washington reported an unknown vehicle in front of her house. An officer responded and spoke to the owner, who had permission to be there.
A caller Thursday night at South Avenue C in Washington reported a lot of foot- and vehicle traffic next door and people standing in his driveway. Two officers responded.
All other offenses
A caller Thursday morning at West Tyler Street in Washington reported locating a 4-year-old child in a car, crying, and stating her father was at work. An officer responded. DHS was contacted, and they responded and picked up the juvenile.
A caller Thursday evening at West Madison Street in Washington requested a welfare check on a subject from whom they received concerning messages. An officer responded and spoke to the homeowner, who advised that the subject was not there that day.
A caller Thursday night at North Avenue C in Washington reported that a friend borrowed her cellphone and then would not return the phone. Two officers responded. The phone was returned to the owner.
