Arrests
An officer reported being out with a wanted subject, Tuesday afternoon at South Van Buren Street in Brighton. Christopher John Morrison, 35, of Brighton, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for third-degree burglary and fifth-degree theft. Bond was $5,300 cash only.
A caller Tuesday afternoon at Oak Avenue in Lytton reported that a deputy had located a subject on a Washington County warrant, who would be transported to the Sac County Jail. There were no local charges. Zachary Dean Vreeland, 26, of Lytton, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for domestic abuse assault, first offense. There was no bond. Extradition arrangements were made with the Sac County Jail.
An officer reported being at a vehicle stop with a black and green Side by Side, early Wednesday morning at Eighth Street in Wellman. An additional officer also responded. Colton John Mast, 29, of Wellman, was arrested on a charge of OWI, second offense, and was cited for ATV violation on a highway.
Traffic accident
A caller Tuesday afternoon at East Fountain Street and North Benton Street in Brighton reported a traffic accident with no injuries. Vehicle operators were Kyle Nicholas Kron, operating a DOT grader; and Richard Lee Hagans. Damages amounted to less than $1,500. Information was exchanged. Hagans was cited for driving while license denied.
Traffic other
A caller Tuesday night at Highway 22 in Riverside reported a large bale of hay at curves in the westbound lane. An officer responded. Subjects were there getting the bale out of the roadway.
Disabled vehicles
A caller Tuesday morning at Highway 218 and 135th Street in Riverside reported a red car with a female trying to flag someone down. An officer responded. The vehicle was unoccupied and was added to the system.
An officer reported being out with a vehicle along the roadway, Tuesday evening at Highway 218 and 160th Street in Riverside. The vehicle was in the way of state DOT workers trying to work on a large pavement blowup. Iowa State Patrol had the vehicle towed by Earl's Towing.
Fire calls
A caller early Wednesday morning at Franklin Street in West Chester reported a truck on fire near a garage. Three Washington County officers and Wellman Fire responded. The fire was extinguished.
Barking dog
A caller Tuesday afternoon at North Second Avenue in Washington reported a dog barking. An officer responded and was unable to make contact with the subject in the neighboring apartment. A door hanger was left for them to call in. The dog stopped barking while the officer was on the scene. The subject called back and advised that she would have the dog for only a couple of days. The officer advised her of the complaint.
Civil standby
A civil standby was reported, Tuesday morning at East Second Street in Washington. Barbara Kay Lamar, of Washington, was cited into court for possession of drug paraphernalia. The civil standby was not done. A male subject was advised that he had not lived there for two months, so he would have to get a court order.
A civil standby was requested, Tuesday evening at South Iowa Avenue in Washington. Officers responded. A subject took all the tools while a protected party observed.
Suspicious activity
A caller Tuesday morning at East Madison Street in Washington reported suspicious activity. An officer responded. Everything appeared to be fine. A door hanger was left.
A caller Tuesday night at South Marion Avenue and West Harrison Street in Washington reported that a white male subject was lying in the grass in the area. He was wearing a blue shirt and dark-colored shorts, and had a bicycle with a Walmart bag hanging from the bike. An officer responded. The subject was resting for a moment and had his wife pick him up.
Welfare check
A caller Tuesday afternoon at East Railroad Street in Riverside reported that an elderly male in a black Dodge pickup drove into the parking lot, parked behind Peoples Savings Bank, and seemed disoriented. A Washington County officer, Riverside QRS and a Washington County ambulance responded. Riverside QRS checked the area and was unable to locate any vehicle or person in a vehicle matching that description.
A caller Tuesday night at East Main Street in Washington requested a welfare check. Two officers responded. The subject no longer lived at that address. An officer made contact with the subject, who was fine.
An officer reported being out with a subject walking on the highway by the Travel Mart, early Wednesday morning at Highway 22 in Riverside. The officer gave the subject a ride to the Henry County line.
All other theft
A caller early Wednesday morning at East Washington Street in Washington reported a gas drive-off of $12.10 by a young male driver. Officers responded and checked video and made contact with the father via PBX, and he returned with his son to pay.
All other offenses
A caller Tuesday afternoon at West Madison Street in Washington reported that a subject was refusing to get out of the pool and was also bothering the other children. Five officers responded. The subject's father picked him up and was going to take him home to calm down. An officer spoke with all parties involved. The pool director would decide if anyone would be banned from the pool.
A caller Tuesday night at South Avenue C in Washington reported that her daughter was to be home 40 minutes earlier, at 10 p.m., and had not returned home. An officer responded to the residence. The juvenile just had not returned yet, and the officer was going to attempt to locate her. The caller called back later, advising that her daughter just returned home.
A caller Tuesday night at West Seventh Street and North Marion Avenue reported a fight involving four male subjects. Three officers responded. The incident was verbal only, and the subjects were separated.
