Traffic accident
A caller Monday morning at Highway 22 in Riverside reported a car-vs.-deer accident. Her vehicle, a Subaru Impreza, was drivable. The caller requested documentation. An officer was advised for documentation.
Fire calls
A caller Monday morning at Seventh Avenue in Wellman reported that her friend's thermostat was smoking. The caller used a fire extinguisher on it, and requested that the Fire Department check it out. Wellman Fire Department responded. It was a bad thermostat. There was no further damage, and there was no fire.
Animal complaint
A caller Monday morning at Highway 1 in Kalona reported that about seven cattle were out in the east ditch. There was a fence down. An officer was en route when contact was made with the owners, who were going to take care of the issue. The officer was disregarded.
Disorderly conduct
A caller Monday afternoon at 155th Street in Wellman reported that they had fired two employees that day. They had been in a verbal altercation and made rude gestures as they were leaving. An officer spoke with the caller. The incident was documented.
A caller Monday evening at East Madison Street in Brighton reported being in a verbal argument with her boyfriend. An officer responded. The male party had his belongings packed and was leaving, upon the deputy's arrival.
A caller Monday night at Seventh Avenue in Wellman reported yelling and fighting coming from a nearby residence. An officer responded. The subjects who were being loud left before the deputy's arrival.
Intimidation/harassment
A caller Monday night at West Madison Street in Washington reported harassment. An officer advised the caller to block the subject on social media. An officer was going to attempt to speak with the subject.
Vandalism
A caller Monday afternoon at E Avenue in Kalona reported that they ejected four youngsters out of the pool. Then the juveniles went to the ball diamonds and tore things up. They had then left the area. An officer planned to speak with the parents of the children, and the city would be sending the parents a letter to explain that their children would be banned from city property for the next 30 days.
Welfare check
A caller Monday night at Eighth Avenue in Wellman reported that her 70-year-old brother was not answering his door. An officer responded and made contact with the subject. He was OK.
All other offenses
A caller Monday night at West Van Buren Street in Washington reported that their landlord was trying to remove their belongings from the house. An officer responded and spoke to the subjects. It was a civil issue.
