Arrests
A caller Wednesday night at Wayland Road in Washington reported a vehicle in the ditch. The subject was very far down in the ditch and said he was OK. Andrew Lowell Boone, 34, of Wayland, was arrested on charges of OWI, first offense, and DUS, second offence. The owner of the fence was notified. The vehicle would stay there until Thursday. The keys were at the jail.
A caller Wednesday night at First Street S.W. in Cedar Rapids reported being out with a subject wanted by Washington County. Donald Arthur Kading, 41, of Belle Plaine, was arrested on a Washington County warrant for failure to appear for a hearing for child support. Bond was $1,000 cash only in obligor's name only. A detainer was placed with Linn County Jail.
Traffic accident
A caller Wednesday afternoon at East Washington Street in Washington reported a two-vehicle accident behind Archer's with no injuries. Vehicle operators were Randy Lee Epperly, of Washington, and Sandra Sue Dalziel, of Ainsworth. Information was exchanged. Damages were under $1,500. Dalziel had left the scene before the responding officer's arrival.
A caller Wednesday afternoon at South Fourth Avenue and East Jefferson Street in Washington reported a traffic accident with no injuries, and it was blocking traffic. Vehicle operators were Gerald Ervin King and Brooks Rangel. An officer requested a medical unit upon arrival on the scene. Two officers, Washington Fire, a Washington Rescue unit and an ambulance responded. There was no ambulance transport. Moore's towed both vehicles. Rangel was cited for failure to yield right of way from a stop sign.
A caller Wednesday night at Red Oak Avenue and Highway 22 in Riverside reported a car-vs.-deer accident with no injuries. The vehicle was drivable. An officer was advised. Documentation was made for insurance purposes.
Disabled vehicles
An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle, early Thursday morning at Highway 218 and the Highway 92 ramp in Ainsworth. The vehicle was unoccupied and was added to the system.
Animal complaint
A caller Wednesday morning at Ivy Avenue in Keota reported that the neighbor's cow was in the garage. She tried contacting him but was unable to make contact. This was an ongoing issue. An officer responded. Chris Colliver was given a warning for owner allowing animal to run at large. The caller will get a list of damages for the officer to present for restitution.
Assault
A caller Wednesday afternoon at Fifth Street in Wellman reported that her mother assaulted her. An officer responded and spoke to the parties. The report was unfounded. Later, the grandmother called back for assistance with the granddaughter. An officer responded and spoke with both of them.
Disorderly conduct
A caller Wednesday afternoon at West Washington Street in Washington reported that there was a fight among three 10-year-olds. They had been ordered to leave the premises, and they had left. The caller requested an officer. An officer spoke with the caller. The incident is under investigation.
A caller Wednesday night at Highway 22 in Riverside reported that a couple were in a verbal and physical altercation in the parking lot and then they were back in their hotel room. They were still yelling at each other and would not open the door for the caller. County units responded and made contact with the subjects. They did not want to pursue charges.
Motor vehicle theft
A caller Wednesday afternoon at First Street in Kalona reported that someone stole their father's truck and wrecked the vehicle in the ditch. An officer responded. The report was unfounded. The caller did not put the vehicle in park, causing it to roll into the ditch.
Runaways/missing person
A caller Wednesday morning at Parkside Estates Road in Washington reported that the juvenile son ran away again early that morning. An officer responded and spoke to the subject. The officer was going to check a few places around town. The officer entered the juvenile as missing. About 3 ½ hours later, at 12:30 p.m., the juvenile called in to report that he was at the bowling alley. Two officers responded but did not see the subject. About half an hour later, Lebowski's called to advise that the juvenile was back. The officers responded, located the juvenile and transported him home to his parents. The missing juvenile entry was cleared from the system.
A caller Wednesday afternoon at East Main Street in Brighton reported that his 12-year-old daughter was not home and had not been seen since that morning in the residence. Clothing description was unknown. The mother then located the child at a residence in Washington. There was no problem.
A caller Wednesday night at East Washington Street requested an officer to speak to a runaway juvenile at the theater. They reported to them that they were homeless. An officer responded. The juvenile was transported to the Police Department, where they were released to their parents.
Vandalism
A caller Wednesday afternoon at Green Meadows Drive in Washington reported that someone ran over his mailbox. An officer responded. The incident was documented. Officers were going to attempt to locate the vehicle.
Welfare check
A caller Wednesday afternoon at East Washington Street in Washington reported that a Trooper was out with children who were playing near the roadway. A Washington County officer responded. The children were not near the road upon the officer's arrival. The officer made contact with the mother to make them aware of the situation.
A caller Wednesday night at A Avenue in Kalona reported that the neighboring residence had several young children home alone. The caller was not sure how long they had been there unsupervised. A male subject from the suspect residence came out and took care of the girl after it was dispatched. Documentation was made. A responding deputy was advised to disregard.
All other theft
A caller Wednesday afternoon at Parkside Estates Road reported that her pink and blue mountain bike was taken by her brother the previous night and he refused to tell her where it was. The caller requested an officer. The bicycle was located at Pizza Ranch and was returned.
All other offenses
A caller Wednesday morning at South Marion Avenue in Washington reported a property issue with the neighbor. An officer responded and spoke with the neighbors about the issue and advised them not to drive on the caller's property. Documentation was made.
A caller Wednesday night at East Second Street in Riverside reported that she just kicked her boyfriend out and he took a phone that belonged to her. The caller requested to speak with a deputy. An officer spoke with both parties. She was advised that she would have to evict him. They would be separated for the night.
