Arrests
A caller Thursday afternoon at West H Avenue in Kalona reported that her ex-boyfriend was threatening her at work and would not leave. The caller was going to look into a no-contact order. The male subject and the female subject were both wanted out of other counties. Christopher Michael Ayers, 40, of Williamsburg, was arrested on an Iowa County warrant for failure to appear for a contempt of court hearing on the original charge of assault. Bond was $200 cash only. A Washington County officer transported Ayers to the county line to meet with an Iowa County deputy.
Traffic accident
A caller Thursday afternoon at East Washington Street in Washington reported a two-vehicle accident with no injuries in the parking lot. Vehicle operators were Victoria Shamara Olden, of Washington, and Cameron Lucas Reed, of Washington. Damages amounted to less than $1,500. Information was exchanged.
A caller Thursday afternoon at Eighth Avenue in Wellman reported that a car came up over the curb and hit the building. The female operator was alert and talking but seemed confused. The vehicle was a white Chevrolet Malibu. The vehicle operator was Martha Ann Nye, of Wellman. Damages were more than $1,500, and a state accident report will be filed. The subject was sent in for re-evaluation and cited for failure to maintain control. Wellman Auto retrieved the vehicle.
A caller Thursday afternoon at Spruce Avenue and 230th Street in Ainsworth reported swerving to miss a deer and going into the ditch. They were unable to get their vehicle out. An officer and Moore's Towing responded. Moore's removed the vehicle and transported the occupants to Washington.
Disabled vehicles
An officer advised that he was out with a disabled vehicle, Thursday afternoon at 220th Street and Vine Avenue in Ainsworth. The vehicle will be added to the system.
An officer reported being out with a disabled vehicle along the roadway at Highway 22 and Sixth Street in Wellman, Thursday afternoon. The vehicle was added to the system.
Animal complaint
A caller reported to the Fire Department that his pet parakeet got away and was on the neighbor's tree, Thursday afternoon at East Second Street in Washington. Washington Fire responded but was unsuccessful at capturing the bird.
Civil dispute
A caller Thursday afternoon at East Main Street in Washington reported that his landlord had his electricity turned off and was refusing to turn it back on. He had not been evicted. The caller requested an officer. The landlord was going to turn the electricity back on. They were advised to have no further contact.
Fraud
A caller Thursday afternoon at East Harrison Street in Washington requested to speak to an officer in reference to a scam. An officer responded. A report will be filed.
Hang-up 911 calls
A caller Thursday night at Paradise Drive in Washington reported receiving an open-line 911 call with no response on call-back. An officer responded. A child may have called by accident. There was no emergency at the residence.
Intimidation/harassment
A caller Thursday afternoon at East Main Street in Washington requested to speak with an officer regarding harassing text messages from his landlord. An officer spoke with the complainant. Documentation only was requested.
A caller Thursday night at Ninth Street in Kalona reported that their ex-boyfriend was sitting by her Chevrolet Equinox that was currently parked at the Kalona Sales Barn. She could not get a no-contact order until the next day. She would like him to leave the area. He was driving a silver Ford Super Duty F350 pickup. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate the male subject's vehicle.
A caller Thursday night at South Fourth Avenue in Washington reported that her son was almost hit on his bicycle twice in the past week, by an older male driving a black Chrysler. The caller requested to speak with an officer. An officer spoke with the caller. Documentation was made.
Motor vehicle theft
A caller early Friday morning at West Washington Street in Brighton reported that her son took her vehicle without permission. An officer spoke with the caller. The caller requested a welfare check and attempt-to-locate on the vehicle and her son.
Search warrant
A caller Thursday afternoon at East 15th Street in Washington requested a civil standby for a removal from storage units behind the apartments. Three officers responded. A report will be filed.
Suspicious activity
A caller Thursday afternoon at 114th Street in Riverside reported a suspicious vehicle and juvenile subjects who were walking on his neighbor's property. They were in a small white car and possibly left northbound on Highway 218. An officer spoke with the caller. Extra patrol was requested.
A caller Thursday night reported that two youngsters with backpacks were walking on 175th Street between Highway 218 and Vine Avenue in Riverside. The caller requested that a deputy check on them. The subjects ran out of gas on Highway 218. Three officers assisted in getting them some gas.
A caller early Friday morning at East Taylor Street in Washington reported that an unknown subject rang their doorbell. The caller requested that an officer check the area. An officer checked the area and was unable to locate anyone. The caller called back in, advising that the subject was still ringing the doorbell. City units responded. An officer spoke with the caller and advised that no one was at the door. The doorbell was malfunctioning.
Vandalism
A caller Thursday night at South Fourth Avenue and East Madison Street in Washington reported that someone threw a rock at his windshield and threatened to shoot him. Two officers responded. There were conflicting stories, and both parties involved were advised to stay separated from each other.
Welfare check
A caller Thursday afternoon at East Second Street in Washington requested assistance for a welfare check in reference to a subject making some threats. An officer responded. The incident was a misunderstanding, and there was no further problem.
All other theft
A caller Thursday morning at West Washington Street in Brighton reported a battery stolen from a vehicle. An officer spoke with the caller. The information was documented.
