Arrests
An officer reported being out at the courthouse with a wanted subject, Thursday afternoon at West Main Street in Washington. The subject was seen by the magistrate, who quashed the warrant. The warrant was canceled from the system.
A caller Thursday night at Highway 22 in Riverside requested a deputy for a patron refusing to leave the business. Two Washington County officers and a Johnson County deputy responded. David Morton Sop, 45, of Minnesota, was arrested on charges of public intoxication and trespass.
Traffic other
A caller Thursday night at Nutmeg Avenue in Washington reported a Honda bike on a dirt road, with no owner. An officer responded and spoke to the owner, who had been unaware that it was a dirt road, and got it stuck. The bike was going to be moved.
An officer reported being out with two bicycles, early Friday morning at Highway 22 and Redwood Avenue in Riverside. One of their headlights went out, and they were stopped to replace it. Everything was fine.
Disabled vehicles
A caller Friday morning at Highway 218 and 565th Street S.E. in Riverside reported that a vehicle was broken down and a female was flagging cars down just north of Riverside. An officer responded and transported the female to Hills. The vehicle was remaining at that location for the time being.
Animal complaint
A caller Thursday night at West Washington Street in Washington reported that a subject tied their dog up and left. An officer responded and gave Nicholas James Wayne, 28, of Washington, a warning for violating the city ordinance on the tether law.
A caller Thursday night at South Third Avenue in Washington reported a bat in her house. Two officers responded and helped remove the bat.
DP & Q
A caller Thursday night at Parkside Estates Road in Washington reported loud music coming from her neighbor's house. Two officers responded. There was no music upon the officers' arrival.
Fraud
A caller Thursday morning at East Washington Street in Washington reported buying a four-wheeler on eBay, and it was a scam. The caller was out $1,400, and requested to speak with an officer. An officer spoke with the caller, who had been in contact with Facebook and eBay in reference to the incident. The information was documented.
Intimidation/harassment
A caller Thursday afternoon at Highway 92 in Washington reported that a subject on his phone walked out in front of his vehicle, then followed him and kicked his car. The caller was in a red Pontiac Sunfire in the parking lot. An officer spoke with the caller and watched the video. No damage had occurred. The subject was gone upon the officer's arrival. Documentation was made.
Suspicious activity
A caller Thursday afternoon at Highway 92 in Washington reported a suspicious female outside of the bank. Two officers responded and advised the subject to move on.
An officer reported being out with a vehicle that had an open door, early Friday morning at East Ninth Street and North Iowa Avenue in Washington. All other doors were locked. The vehicle did not appear to have been gone through. Documentation was made.
Welfare check
A caller Thursday afternoon at Highway 1 in Washington requested a welfare check on a subject whose daughter had not been brought to the day care all week and was barely at the day care last week. She was not answering her phone. An officer responded and made contact with the subject, who had a sick child and had kept her home.
A caller Thursday afternoon at 170th Street in Wellman requested a welfare check. Two officers responded and were unable to locate the subject. On Friday the subject was located, and the caller was advised.
A caller Thursday evening at East Polk Street in Washington reported a subject possibly push-mowing her yard, with a swaddled baby. An officer responded and was unable to locate the subject.
All other offenses
A caller Thursday night at West Washington Street in Washington reported that her ex-husband was in the library with her and they did not get along. Two officers responded and advised the subject to get a no-contact order with him.
An officer reported being out at a business in reference to a previous incident, Thursday night at Highway 22 in Riverside. A report will be filed. Charges are pending.
A caller Thursday night at Parkside Estates Road in Washington reported that a juvenile subject walked onto his yard and threatened him with a weapon. Two officers responded and spoke with both parties. There were no weapons involved. Both subjects were advised to stay away from each other.
A caller Thursday night at East Jefferson Street in Washington reported that her neighbor was outside her house in distress about a paper from her landlord. An officer responded and spoke to the subject. The paper was an eviction notice. The officer advised that it was a civil matter.
