WINFIELD — Saturday, June 8 at 7 p.m. Brendan Brooks, a musician originally from Wisconsin, will perform for the June WAGG (Winfield Area Grateful Gathering) at Winfield Open Bible Church Activity Center on North Locust Street.
“The first thing you should know about me is that I love Jesus,” Brooks describes himself on his website. “ … I was born and raised in a very rural area in southwest Wisconsin. Go, Packers! I started playing guitar at age 15 and began leading worship for a youth group at 16. That was many years ago.”
According to Brooks, he started the band Finding Fortress in 2007, however, “after varied success and drama” and through an opportunity to move to Nashville, the band split in 2011.
“Through it all, I now see God was saying, ‘Now is not the time or place.’ After heading to Nashville, my first solo album was released in the summer of 2016,” Brooks states.
“Since heading into a solo career, God has blessed me time and time again. Hearing stories of how my music has touched lives and brought people back to church is very humbling. I am a worship leader at heart but also love getting people on their feet, clapping and singing along to my original music. From campfires to large stages, I enjoy using the gifts God has given me to serve others. God is on the move, and I am so glad to be part of His church.”
Brooks celebrated his last year of touring as his best thus far with 168 shows across 39 states. With this momentum, it is not wonder Brooks announced he is on the cusp of releasing a new album.
Brooks called his release of his album “Broken” in 2016 “great,” but thinks his impending release of “Million Tears” will “take the cake.”
According to Brooks website his plans to release the new music includes four radio singles from the album and the rest will be out soon. “Like real soon. Like within a couple months soon. Like all the tracks are recorded and I just have to get the finals put together soon. You can tell I am a little excited,” he states.
All are welcome to attend the event at Winfield’s Open Bible Church. WAGG will offer food and fellowship following Brook’s performance.
