Charges are being filed on juveniles for disorderly conduct after a fight broke out at Mt. Pleasant Community High School on Wednesday, April 24. No injuries were reported.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department responded to the incident around 9:01 a.m., on Wednesday. Following the incident, officers were alerted of students organizing another fight to take place later that evening. The police department reached out to parents to advise them of the fight and increased patrol.
'We gave the heads up to parents to keep their eyes on the kids (and) try to make sure they know where their children are before it escalated any further,” Lt. Ryan Pilling said.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department posted on their Facebook page on Wednesday, April 24, around 5 p.m. that they were 'made aware of the situation that happened on social media. Our office takes this serious(ly) and all parents of the juveniles have been notified.”
Pilling said that they posted on Facebook because concerned parents were calling the police department, and they wanted to let everyone to be aware that the situation was being handled.
'It kind of spreads like wildfire,” Pilling said. 'Kids mainly Snapchat anymore as a means to post these things and spread the word and gossip. That gets relayed back to us.”
Pilling said the incident was isolated between a group of students. There was no threat to the student body and no weapons were used.
