The KCTC office in downtown Washington opened its doors for an early Cinco de Mayo celebration on Tuesday afternoon.
The event was part of the Washington Area Chamber of Commerce’s Alive After Five series where businesses open their doors in an effort to connect with the community.
“We are excited to have everybody at our Alive After Five for the Washington Chamber,” KCTC General Manager Casey Peck said. “We’ve invited everyone over to celebrate Cinco de Mayo a day early with some nachos.”
Chamber Executive Director Michelle Redlinger praised KCTC’s community outreach efforts.
“KCTC always does an awesome job involving the community,” Redlinger said. “They do their own customer service events throughout the year, and we are just one of many events that they do.”
Peck said that KCTC works to get involved in as many community events as it can.
“We try to do as much as we can to support the community, because we appreciate being in the Washington community,” Peck said. “Community outreach is important to get to know each other. Seeing people at the grocery store or on the street is important to us.
“Getting to know the people in the community is important, so they can understand that we are one of them. It puts a face with a name and know who we are.”
Now that pandemic-related restrictions are beginning to ease, more businesses are putting on Alive After Five events.
“We’re getting back to our normal schedule of Alive After Five,” Redlinger said. “It’s a way we can open up our businesses to the community and partner on customer appreciation or some celebratory events.”
Paneless Window Cleaning will host the next Alive After Five event at City Point Church, 1111 S. B Ave. on June 8.
