The Chiefs? hot-shooting continued an unlucky trend for Fairfield just one game removed from giving up seven long-balls in a loss to Mount Pleasant Friday.
?Shooting has been the difference,? said head coach Billy Strickler. ?Defensively we?ve showed we can hang around, but everyone is just having better shooting nights than us.?
Keokuk (7-5, 3-1 SEC) hoisted up 17 first half shots from behind the arc, which contributed to a 16-1 run to close the second quarter after Fairfield had cut the lead to four. With a 33-17 halftime lead, Keokuk cruised to victory in the second half.
Meredith Flattery and Tori Ogden both scored in double digits for Fairfield with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Point guard Gretchen Granneman pulled in six rebounds to go along with nine points, Annie Buch score five and leading scorer Heather Mason was held also held to five.
Next up for the Trojans (5-7, 0-4 SEC) is another conference battle against No. 13-ranked Washington at home Friday night.

Fairfield freshman post victory vs. Mount Pleasant
The Fairfield freshman basketball team posted a 41-33 win vs. Mount Pleasant Friday before falling 45-31 Monday night at Keokuk.
In the win vs. Mount Pleasant, Erin Thompson led the Trojans with 13 points while Jessica Lamb chipped in 11 points and five boards. Brittany Kurtz added eight points and five rebounds, Sidney Baumann scored six and Haley Grunwald netted two.
Baumann led Fairfield with 10 points and seven rebounds in the loss to Keokuk. Erin Thompson scored eight, Lamb seven, Kurtz four and Courtney Laux had two. Thompson also corralled seven rebounds.
Trojan JV drops two
The Fairfield JV girls? basketball team was edged 35-31 in overtime Friday vs. Mount Pleasant and also lost Monday night, 49-29, vs. Keokuk.
Brittany Craff led the Trojans with 10 points and five rebounds while Dana Diers and Sami Herman each scored five in the loss to the Panthers. Lamb added five, and Doris Jackson and Thompason each contributed four points.
Serena Ward led the JV squad with nine points in the game vs. Keokuk. McKenzie Lyman totaled eight rebounds, four points and three steals. Craff chipped in six points, Taylor Neil added five and Danielle DeRouen contributed four points and four steals.
