The annual Southeast Iowa -West Central Illinois Job Fair will be held in Keokuk on Saturday, April 8. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Keokuk High School Wright Fieldhouse, at 2285 Middle Road St.
Last year the event was held in Burlington and drew an estimated 400 potential job seekers, said Bob Ryan of the Iowa Workforce Development office in Burlington.
The highlight of the job fair, Ryan said, will be upwards to three dozen employers who will be showing the jobs and types of careers available in the region. They'll be accepting resumes and, in some cases, conducting interviews on the spot.
In addition, the job fair will offer resume critiques and even how to write a resume for those who have never attempted to write one. There will also be seminars on how to interview for a job and how to avoid mistakes when applying for a job that will give a potential employer a negative first impression.
Ryan said many people who already have jobs, but may be looking for a better position or higher wages attend the fair. The event is being co-sponsored by the Mt. Pleasant News, Clear Channel Radio, Withers Broadcasting, Chambers of Commerce in Mt. Pleasant, Burlington/West Burlington, Fort Madison and Keokuk; The Hawk Eye, Southeastern Community College and Pritchard Broadcast-ing.
