Keota man arrested after north county car chase

WELLMAN - A short car chase took place in north Washington County Tuesday night.
At 9:20 p.m., a Washington County sheriff's deputy reported following a vehicle westbound on Highway 22 west of Wellman.
The vehicle was going at speeds varying over 60 miles per hour.
The driver turned south on Birch Avenue, west on 170th and then south on 320th past 180th before coming to a stop shortly after 9:34 p.m. in Keokuk County.
During the chase, the deputy reported there was one individual throwing items out of the car.
The driver was identified as Joshua Charles Lynam of Keota. Lynam was charged with driving while suspended, failure to obey stop sign, no insurance, failure to provide registration card and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. The individual was arrested and transported to the county jail.
While the deputy was at the traffic stop, other officers assisted in locating the thrown items.
There are additional charged pending for possession of a controlled substance and felony eluding.
