KEOTA — The Keota School Board has named Lisa Brenneman the district’s next superintendent and high school principal. Brenneman was previously the PK-12 principal of Keota CSD for nine years, where she also oversaw grades 7-12 and served as curriculum and athletic director.
Brenneman is currently a district online learning specialist in the Iowa City Community School District, where she is responsible for the design, implementation, oversight, and management of five 4A high schools.
“Brenneman is professionally trained as a certified online development specialist,” the news release said. “She also has experience with professional learning communities and Marzano’s High Reliability Schools framework. Beyond her professional duties, Lisa is also involved in the American Heart Association, Iowa Donor Network and School and Community Based Grant Success program.”
Lisa earned her master’s degree from the University of Iowa on guidance counseling. Her PK-12 principal licensure was also earned from the University of Iowa. Her coursework for superintendent licensure, with a specialist degree, was completed in 2020 from Drake University.
Brenneman said she was excited to take on the role.
“Keota has a vision that aligns with my personal and professional philosophy,” she said. “A focus on customized high expectations for all students provides me the opportunity to use my expertise, experience, and leadership skills, to make a difference in their schools and community … and that feeds happiness. I am elated to have been given this opportunity, and I look forward to raising Keota schools to a level that students from all over want to be part of.”
Board members have been working with Grundmeyer Leader Services to conduct the search. Stakeholders provided input to the school board after interviewing each of the three finalists Feb. 2. The board considered the input, references, and desired qualifications as they made their decision. Brenneman will officially begin leading the Keota Community School District on July 1, 2023.
