WASHINGTON — Music, bubbles, smiles, and sunshine flooded downtown Washington Friday for Kidzfest hosted by Washington County Hospitals and Clinics (WCHC).
Kidzfest is an annual event intended to promote health, wellness, and safety for kids from Washington and surrounding communities.
The evening was filled with fun.
Music wafted through the square from the Washington Junior High School choir, and Aces and Eights encouraged enthusiastic dance moves from young audience members.
Music choices included “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” “Somebody to Love,” “Baby Shark,” and “Sweet Caroline.”
Bingo cards were handed out to every kid, which they filled by visiting every booth and then turning them in for a prize drawing.
According to WCHC Foundation and Marketing Director and Kidzfest organizer Amy Vetter, the event gave away over 60 prizes like Iowa Cubs tickets, fidget sets, movie tickets, and two bikes.
Whether kids won large prizes or not, they all seemed to enjoy themselves.
“I just like everything,” said 6-year-old attendee Benson Woodward.
Everything is not a bad description of all the activities available for kids.
Over 30 businesses and organizations provided activities such as face painting by Brandi, pony rides, digging for treasure, and operating a real fire hose.
Families of the over 900 kids in attendance departed with bags full of goodies and smiles plastered across their faces.
