WASHINGTON — Rainy skies clear Friday afternoon, providing a perfect evening for Washington Hospital and Clinics annual KidzFest celebration.
Hundreds of children and their parents packed the park, going from booth to booth to fill up cards with marks from each vendor and collect the trinkets each was handing out.
More than two dozen vendors filled Central Park in Washington while food vendors lined the streets around the square.
This year’s theme was Hiking to Health and booths had a variety of activities for children. Others had goodies that children collected.
The event was free.
It was a good thing the skies cleared Friday. If the rain that had fallen throughout the day continued, the event would have been canceled with no makeup planned.
Awards were given for winners of a coloring contest for preschoolers through second-graders and a writing contest for third- through fifth-graders.
According to the WCHC, KidzFest is designed to promote health, wellness, and safety to youth in Washington and the surrounding areas. It is an evening of entertainment, activities, food, and fun for the whole family.
