WASHINGTON — The Kiwanis noon club held its annual giveback meeting Wednesday.
Noon Kiwanis Club President Jenny Morgan said the group’s members donated $50 for every shift they personally worked at the county fair booth, each choosing an area organization that involves children. This year’s total came out to $6,000, spread out across 20 organizations.
“It’s my favorite meeting of the year,” she said. “It’s a great meeting where everyone gets to show off their hard work and put it toward a great place in town.”
Morgan is adamant on the language that members “get to donate” based on their number of fair shifts.
“We’re having fun at the fair, we’re out in front of people, and it’s hard work because we’re standing on our feet all day and it’s hot,” she said. “It’s emotional, I think it’s awesome … it goes to show how well we did at the fair and how hard we worked.”
