Anthony Koehlhoeffer, the Fairfield man accused of robbing a Packwood bank and a Fairfield fast-food restaurant was sentenced Monday on charges in Jefferson County.
Jefferson County Attorney Tim Dille said Koehlhoeffer pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree robbery and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Dille said the sentence ? 10 years for each of the robberies ? will run concurrently with the sentences Koehlhoeffer received in Johnson and Scott counties earlier this year. He is imprisoned at Fort Madison.
Koehlhoeffer was charged with the Oct. 3, 2010, robbery and burglary of the McDonald?s Restaurant in Fairfield and the Oct. 29, 2010, robbery of Pilot Grove Savings Bank in Packwood.
He escaped from custody Dec. 15, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City while there for treatment, stole and crashed two cars and carjacked a third, demanding the woman driver take him to Bettendorf in Scott County. He was later captured after crashing another vehicle in Bettendorf.
Koehlhoeffer was sentenced in March in Scott County to 10 years in prison for robbery, theft and eluding charges.
In October, he pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery, third-degree kidnapping and second-degree theft in Johnson County and was sentenced to 20 years.
Dille said Koehlhoeffer also was ordered by Judge Lucy Gamon Monday to pay restitution, but with Koehlhoeffer in prison, repayment probably won?t be made.
Most of the money from the Pilot Grove Savings Bank robbery was recovered, continued Dille, and insurance took care of McDonald?s, but the Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office will be out the money it spent to replace a vehicle window Koehlhoeffer broke and to seek medical care for him at the Jefferson County Health Center emergency room.
?That will be an expense for the taxpayers,? Dille said. ?But we?re glad to get done with him and have him behind bars.?
