Anthony Koehlhoeffer, the Fairfield man accused of robbing a Packwood bank, the Fairfield McDonald?s and then escaping from custody while at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, was sentenced Friday on charges in Johnson County.
Koehlhoeffer pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery, third-degree kidnapping and second-degree theft.
The judge sentenced Koehlhoeffer for no more than 20 years. The robbery and kidnapping charges will run consecutively and the theft charge will run concurrently.
Koehlhoeffer was sentenced in March in Scott County to 10 years in prison for robbery, theft and eluding charges.
?The other counties are done with him, so now the ball is in our court,? said Jefferson County Assistant Attorney Pat McAvan.
McAvan said a plea and sentencing date has been set for Dec. 5.
County attorney Tim Dille said if Koehlhoeffer doesn?t plead guilty as he is expected to do, a trial date will need to be set.
A trial had been set for earlier this year in January, but it was moved to July, then October and now, the plea and sentencing is set for December.
?Very rarely do we get a firm trial date,? said McAvan explaining the date changes. ?But we haven?t been in a big hurry because he?s been busy with other things.?
Koehlhoeffer is charged with the Oct. 3, 2010, robbery and burglary of McDonald?s in Fairfield and the Oct. 29, 2010, robbery of Pilot Grove Savings Bank in Packwood.
He escaped from custody Dec. 15 at University Hospitals while there for treatment, stole and crashed two cars and carjacked a third, demanding the woman take him to Bettendorf. He was captured after crashing another car in Bettendorf.
