WINFIELD — Winfield-Mt. Union and WACO schools not only feed their students nutritious meals at breakfast and lunch, but they also take snack time seriously.
Under the leadership of WMU’s Nutritional Director Karlee Howard, students participated in a taste test of peanut free trail mix with their lunches.
Student took small samples of trail mix which included pretzels, Cherrios, marshmallows, and chocolate chips then gave their overall positive feedback of the new treat.
As WACO Elementary students take Iowa Statewide Assessments of Student Progress (ISASP) this week, they will also enjoy several tasty snacks that line up with the school’s theme, “It’s sweet to show what you know,” thanks to school staff and the parent teacher organization.
While the snacks will help keep the students’ energy levels up during testing, WACO Elementary still encourages scholars to get good sleep and eat a healthy breakfast as they finish strong this week.
