Legislative forum in Ottumwa Saturday

The League of Women Voters of Ottumwa and Ottumwa Chamber of Commerce will cosponsor the second of three legislative forums at BridgeView Center Saturday.

The forum will be 9:30-11 a.m. in the studio located immediately to the left of the lobby in BridgeView.

Area legislators Mark Chelgren, Mary Gaskill, Sandra Greiner, Curt Hanson and Kurt Swaim have been invited and plan to participate.

As each person enters the room, he or she will receive a number. Those numbers will be called in sequence by the moderator to ask his or her question of the legislators. The league will ask the first question regarding the status of bills on mental health reform in the House and Senate.

Citizens are encouraged to tell legislators about issues they want addressed in this legislative session. Each legislator will have equal time to respond to all issues presented by the audience. Ideas presented by citizens to legislators allow them to better represent their constituents.

The forum is free to the public. Coffee and tea will be provided.

The third forum will be April 7.
