WASHINGTON — With driveway pavings complete, County Engineer Jacob Thorius said contractors hoped to finish work Lexington Boulevard and West Fifth Street by next week. The two roads have been closed to through-traffic all month for a pavement overlay project.
“They are working on shouldering, they started that yesterday, hopefully they’ll be done … this week,” Thorius said at a Supervisor meeting on Tuesday. “There’s more cleanup, resetting the mailboxes and painting the lines next week, so hopefully sometime into next week we will have those roads open.”
Chief County Deputy Shawn Ellingson said the crews had done a good job of minimizing obstructions, given the jail’s location on Lexington.
“Their office has done a great job of keeping us able to get to our office,” he said. “Everybody’s been able to make it to jail when they need it to … They were able to do half our driveway at a time, and they split it so we were either able to come in from the east or the west at all times.”
