LIBERTYVILLE ? The Libertyville City Council is in the process of hiring and bringing a maintenance manager on board as quickly as possible.
?There is a list of things that need done,? said Mayor Michelle Stump.
The councilmen each had a copy of the applications submitted for the job in their meeting packet. They were asked to select and turn in their top two or three choices, and city clerk Amanda Valent will contact the top applicants to set up interviews.
The city council?s personnel committee is planning to interview the top two or three candidates beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday.
The Libertyville City Council decided in July to end the employment of its maintenance manager Ron Parker because of maintenance issues and available time. The council approved Bob Wysong to temporarily fill the position, but because of medical concerns, he left the job at the end of July. In August, the council approved hiring Rick Adams, but that attempt to fill the vacancy was not successful, and the search is continuing.
With the annual Libertyville Halloween Parade set for 1 p.m. Oct. 30, the councilmen approved temporarily closing streets for the parade route. The parade starts at Libertyville Elementary School and heads east on Broadway Street, turns south on Washington Street, west on Maple Avenue, north on Main Street and east on Broadway.
City councilman Rod Nelson pointed out parade organizers expanded the route this year. He said plans are for the older participants, the Fairfield Middle School Band and floats to follow the expanded route, while the younger children will leave the school going south on Jefferson and join the rest of the parade on Maple. He said organizers plan to start the two groups at the same time.
The council also set trick-or-treat hours as 5:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 30.
Councilman Tim Messer discussed street paving so that people could begin thinking about what they would like to do before the budget discussion in January.
