LIBERTYVILLE ? Doris Allen is determined to keep the public aware of finding the person(s) of interest in her father?s death and his wife?s disappearance.
Allen, of Libertyville, and family members are accepting donations through Crime Stoppers for a reward to anyone providing information that leads to a conviction and arrest of the person(s) responsible. The reward is at $7,000 as of Wednesday, but it had grown by $1,000 from the previous week.
Information and donations can be given to the Polk County Crime Stoppers at 515-223-1400. Callers can remain anonymous.
Allen is the daughter of James William ?Bill? who married Kaidena ?Kay? Wood a few years ago. The Wood?s home in Norwalk was burned down in the late hours of July 30 and early morning of July 31. A body was found in the charred house debris and both Bill and Kay Wood had disappeared.
The Wood?s pickup truck was located at apartments in Kansas City, Mo., July 31. Witnesses there described seeing a man with the pickup ? a slender-built man between 6?2? and 6?6? from his late 40s to early 60s with gray to white hair in a crew cut.
An Aug. 19 announcement about the autopsy results identified the body in the fire as Bill Wood, who died from several gunshot wounds.
?We?ve been putting fliers up around the area,? said Allen. ?Offering a reward has generated more calls to Crime Stoppers.
?I was surprised that most people around here have heard about the fire, my father?s death and Kay?s disappearance. They?ve been following the events. So we?re asking for everyone?s help to locate the man in the sketch.?
