The Washington Public Library held a bubble show at Washington Central Park Tuesday morning.
The event, performed by educational entertainment company Absolute Science, is part of the library’s summer reading program. While Absolute Science has participated in the program before, this was the first year with a bubble show.
“We thought, after a year of COVID, a bubble show would be a really fun way for kids to interact and have some fun,” children’s librarian Jenisa Harris said. “It’s a perfect outdoor activity, and we’re lucky to have the park to do it in.”
Harris said the program would host a magician next week and a musician on July 6. Both shows have backup plans to perform over Zoom in the event of rain.
“We always have summer reading family events,” she said. “We invite all ages to come. We had almost 200 (Tuesday.) They’re always really well attended. We’re in a community that really loves and supports the library and a lot of the day cares come, too, so it’s really a great time.”
