Lightning strikes house, starts fire
Washington firefighters responded to a house fire Tuesday morning, Aug. 20, at 723 N. Second Ave. in Washington.
Dispatch received a call at 8:57 a.m. that day that the house caught fire after being struck by lightning. The Washington Fire Department responded, and the Ainsworth Fire Department was called to provide mutual aid. The firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported. The house suffered extensive smoke damage.
