Lincoln celebrates positive behavior, parent-teacher group
Sep. 29, 2022 10:59 am
WASHINGTON — Greetings from Lincoln Elementary! Now that we have been in school for over a month, we are settling into some great routines and learning at Lincoln. Here are a few of the happenings at Lincoln:
PBIS: We use positive behavior interventions and supports to support social emotional needs at Lincoln. How do we do this?
We teach and practice being RESPECTABLE, RESPONSIBLE and SAFE in common routines at school, like walking in the hallways, entering and exiting the classroom, and engaging in partner work just to name a few.
We reinforce these routines with behavior-specific positive praise accompanied by a ticket. You might hear teachers say, “Wow! I love how I see Sophia squared up and listening to the speaker right now! Thank you for doing that!”
Individual classrooms will make a goal for how many tickets they want their class to earn in order to have a celebration. They might wear pajamas, chew gum or drink hot cocoa while reading a book.
The entire school will total up tickets for a schoolwide celebration. We might play BINGO and run through the hallways to get a prize or have a rock, paper, scissors tournament.
PTG: Our parent-teacher-group at Lincoln is awesome! This year they raised over $20,000 for projects at Lincoln hosting our Bike-a-Thon! We had such a great time riding our bikes and walking around the school for the morning!
PTG also purchased T-shirts for every student at Lincoln! We plan to wear them together on spirit days. Why? Because Lincoln is a great place to be, and we want you to know that YOU BELONG here!
