WASHINGTON — Lincoln Elementary will open its doors to school families for STEAM Night on April 18 from 5-7 p.m., highlighting principles of science, technology, engineering, art and math though a variety of fun activities.
Building Instructional Coach Lexa Mahr said the night was an exciting way to get teachers and students involved outside of the school day.
“We see the kids all day, but we also want to have those strong relationships with parents and families,” she said. “So having those opportunities for parents to come into the building is a big part of why we do these fun nights. Our staff, then gets to have interactions with students in a different way.”
Activities at the building will include engineering paper rockets, math games, and paper marbling. Mahr said the building would also have STEAM-field professionals set up at stations around the school, where they’ll talk about their jobs, and how they use science, technology engineering, art and math at work.
Mahr said the event would resemble a literacy night held earlier this school year, and a math night held last school year.
“We’re really excited to host this event, and our teachers have put a lot of prep into this,” she said. “And, we just love having fun with kids, so we’re hoping for a really good turnout.”
