The Mt. Pleasant Community School District has a superintendent; at least for the next year.
The MPCSD school board selected Linda Brock as the interim superintendent on Monday during its regularly scheduled meeting. On Wednesday morning, Brock accepted the post.
Brock most recently served as superintendent at Ft. Dodge, a post she held from 2005 to 2010. Prior to that, she was the superintendent at Ft. Madison from 2001 to 2005. Brock worked for 36 years in public education, 15 years of which were with Prairie Lakes and Mississippi Bend Area Education agencies.
Ed Chabal, director of business and finance said Brock would take her place at the helm on Monday, July 20.
Brock?s contract will run from July 20, 2015, to June 30, 2016, and have a clause that would give either party the ability to terminate the contract with a 30-day written notice. Brock?s salary was negotiated at $136,000 annually, but since she did not start on July 1, Chabal said the amount was prorated to $129,893.
Chabal said once Brock is in place the board will begin tackling finding a new director of instruction and technology following the resignation of Darren Hanna.
