Little change in monthly grain prices
Soy continued downward trend in September, corn went up by seven cents

DES MOINES — The average price received by farmers for corn during September 2024 in Iowa was $4.09 per bushel according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service — Agricultural Prices report. This was seven cents above the August price but $1.13 below September 2023.
The September 2024 average price received by farmers for soybeans, at $10.00 per bushel, was 10 cents below the August price and $3.10 below the September 2023 price.
All hay prices in Iowa averaged $109 per ton in September. This was $12 below the August price and $62 below the September 2023 price. The September 2024 alfalfa hay price, at $114, was $9 below the previous month and $61 below September 2023. The average price received for other hay during September was $95 per ton. This was $17.00 below the August price and $54 below September last year.
The average price for milk was $25.70 per cwt, $2.40 above the August price and $5.80 above September 2023. Prices received for milk cows for dairy herd replacement averaged $2,700 per head as of Oct. 1, 2024.
